About Jane Kent...
The BCA Center shares the following information about Jane Kent and her work:

Artist and educator Jane Kent is best known for drawings, prints, and artists’ books. She often begins with an object and utilizes drawing to discover the oddness and unexpected qualities of everyday things. Working through numerous and varied iterations, Kent explores how the elements of form, texture, and fields of color convey complex, nuanced observations of our everyday world.

Between the Covers: Works by Jane Kent features artist books, broadsheets, and working drawings created by the artist in collaboration with eight authors over the past 25 years. The exhibit includes six artist books with selections of text by a distinguished poet or writer including The Orchid Thief Re-imagined, 2003 (Susan Orlean); Skating, 2011 (Richard Ford); and Little Albert, 2023 (Joyce Carol Oates).

Between the Covers also debuts several of Kent’s working drawings for her newest collaborative project with Major Jackson, Why I Write Poetry, a forthcoming artist book to be published The Grenfell Press in 2025. Jane Kent is Professor of Studio Art at the University of Vermont and divides her time between Vermont and New York.
