The team takes weekly classes in modern, hip-hop, jazz, tap, and Pilates, and explores the art of choreography; this year we will add ballroom and Latin dance to our repertoire.

The Vermont Academy dancers perform twice during their season at the Candlelight Show in December, and Winter Cabaret, which showcases the choreography learned throughout the season.

Whenever possible, VA hosts a dance residency with a professional dance company and participate in dance exchanges with other schools. In recent years we had the honor of dancing with New York City based Cherylyn Lavagnino Dance, taking part in the New England Prep School Dance Festival, and teaching students from Kurn Hattin School.

Dancers are challenged to take risks, to improve their technique and performance ability, and to build strength, stamina, and flexibility. We ask the dancers to bring determination, an open mind, and mutual support to practices and performances.
