Delaney Cox ’24 Commits to Salem State University for Hockey
Congratulations to dedicated Vermont Academy hockey goalie Delaney Cox ’24, for signing her National Letter of Intent to play Division III Women’s Ice Hockey at Salem State University (MA) next fall. During her time at VA, Delaney has proven to be a devoted leader and valued member of the VA community athletically and academically.
A four-year senior, Delaney has built a network of supporters and friends throughout her time here. She has played in 24 games during her VA career and has only let 48 goals past her throughout her four years on the team.
"Delaney is hardworking, gritty, and above all else, kind; she leads with her heart. It's her passion that makes her such an amazing athlete to work with,” said Head Coach of Girls’ Varsity Hockey Madison Paydos ’18. “She inspires those around her to work hard and buy into the team mentality, forging a family. To see Delaney making it to the college level is amazing. She has worked so hard for this moment, and I know she will continue to amaze people at the NCAA level. She made a mark on the ice as a standout goaltender, and on our community being the great human she is. Her absence will be felt at VA!”
Delaney shared her own perspective on her time at VA, illustrating the many layers that helped lead her to where she is today, achieving her goals. “Aside from the athletic aspect of VA, I don't think I would have thrived [in] the way I did here anywhere else. Not only did I mature here, but I became the person I am today because of the experiences I've had, the people I've mentored, the coaches and teachers I've had, as well as the environment I was put in that helped me succeed.”
We look forward to seeing Delaney continue her successes on and off the ice at Salem State as she starts this next chapter of her life.
