VA vs. Holderness

The girls faced an incredibly strong Holderness team on Saturday 4/14. Holderness scored a goal right off the draw to begin the game and quickly netted another. VA's Ellie Matte scored a goal to answer Holderness' second and the play went back and forth with both teams unable to capitalize on scoring opportunities. VA did an excellent job at controlling the ball in the midfield but was not able to set up any offensive plays. Holderness ended the half by netting three goals. In the second half, Holderness' adept skills were on display, and the Bulls pulled ahead to a definitive lead. VA's Riley Walsh scored an exciting goal after pressuring the goalie and gaining control of the ball and VA's Ellie Matte scored another off a beautiful assist from Maggy Peyton. Maggy Peyton, Maggie Hodgson, and Syd Henry had excellent Draw control in the second half and Elizabeth Pitts, Ani Kapral, Jordan Loya, and Klara Jandusikova had strong defensive games. VA plays Putney on Monday at home!
